SUMMERTIME RELEASE FRENZY – INCLUDING T66’s 50TH RELEASE

June 15, 2010 – For the past eight years, Winnipeg’s celebrated Transistor 66 Records has released works by the country’s top-drawer in brash, underground rock n’ roll. This June, T66 unveils a remarkable six albums, featuring the best in rockabilly, garage, vintage punk and a few shades in between.

Gas, Liquor & Fireworks by THE ROWDYMEN – Transistor 66 Records is pleased to present their 50th release! These notorious brethren are known as the country’s meanest rockabilly band, blending Bakersfield twang with beer-soaked rock and roll.

Absolver, by THE SAVANTS – For fans of Fucked Up and The Ramones, this trio blasts fast, dark and raucous punk straight from the gut. A torrid, stinging clamor to listeners, this release will win over all seasoned fans of fast, in-your-face punk rock.

Night Date, by THE LONELY VULCANS. The country’s premier instrumental rock outfit, offering a blaze of masterful instrumentation gussied up in a searing vintage rock sensibility. Heart-rending, sonically arresting, and the soundtrack to the coolest movie you’ve never seen.

External Culture for Internal Barbarians, by HOT LIVE GUYS. Winnipeg’s legendary showmen set to disc their brand of turbo garage rock, cut with clean melody and an unflinching aural assault. The final release by these incorrigible Winnipeg enfants terribles, this frenzied release renders the best of fevered rock n’ roll.

S/T, Kids On Fire. The Kids combine equal elements of - youth, vigor, urgency, passion, reason and just the perfect amount of sloppiness - all pulled off with a "leave it in the dust" attitude. For Fans of The Clash and Against Me.

On Fire ’99, by BATTLE SNAKES. Some of Vancouver’s finest garage rock players brought together via The Stooges on vinyl and a case of PBR, this EP features a sterling collection of classic Canadian garage rock covers by the likes of Tricky Woo and Nasty On.

Calgary...we're comin' to get you. Our Winnipeg weekender was such a crazy blast, we're hittin' the road and doin' it up in Calgary. News a plenty!! Just finished recuperating from our first Transistor 66 Rn'R Weekender where we unleashed the Angry Dragons fresh slab of Hot Pink Vinyl on the unsuspecting masses as well as the official 'Peg release for our resident trashy greasy rockin' billy, Bloodshot Bill. Most definitely one of the funnest weekend I've had the privilege of taking part in. Much thanks to our friends at Half-Pints Brewing Co. for providing us with the most delicious beverages anywhere and to The Lonely Vulcan's, Vibrating Beds, The Farrell Bros., The Blowholes and The High Thunderers for providing us with the full blown rock madness only they could provide.

Speaking of the Vulcans, '66 is extremely proud to welcome them to the Family and release their debut recording, Night Date. Release bash is, where else but our r'n'r home The Royal Albert, March 26.

Other new releases Chris "MAMA" Bauer releases his adventure in musical sound. "A Universe of Horrors" will take you on a musical journey best described as avant garage jazz.

Our beloved Hot Live Guys have decided to go on an extended hiatus...but not before they gave the world 11 new songs . The "External Culture for the Internal Barbarians" CD release was a sold out affair at the Albert that saw everyone leave home with a copy. Many thanks to Hot Blood Bombers for enduring a snow storm to attend as well as American Flamewhip and Ditchpig for taking the stage for this bittersweet occasion.

The Crooked Brothers join the Family.. Deathbed Pillowtalk was released to a Sold Out Show at the West End Cultural Center and the record spent several weeks atop the Canadian Roots chart.

Kids On Fire join the Family and put out one seriously kick ass records. Coming out on CD and glorious red vinyl. This power trio debuted this Fall with their record already recorded. Watch for much more when their drummer returns from his South American adventure.

The Rowdymen are back with a vengeance!! Gas, Liquor and Fireworks was released to a packed house December 5th at the High and Lonesome Club with special guests, The Papsmears.

What's cookin'?? Scott Nolan is currently working on a brand new record due out this Fall, Bloodshot Bill is about to go on tour with Heavy Trash in Europe, Miesha is headin East for another trek, The Dragons are heading West for a tour and to play Pack AD's new record release, The Magnificent 7's are about to embark on a 2 month Canadian trek, The Savants just got back fr. out West, SubCity as well just retuned from a number of Sold Out Shows...and a bunch of stuff I can't remember.

Till next time,
